1.

Base Line Survey

-

Base line survey and diagnostic study of weavers of District Kangra was carried out. There are thirty eight weavers cooperative societies in the district, Ten groups of Cooperative societies were made and 326 weavers were identified. The units were having 8 to 10 looms at their headquarters and employing 10 to 12 weavers. There are total 127 handlooms with these identified groups. 2/3rd of weavers are women. The economic condition of the weavers is pitiable. The weavers mainly produce Himachali Shawls, tweeds, blankets (tattu), gents shawls (Chadder), jackets and caps. On the completion of the baseline survey, the report was sent to quarter concerned.

Formation of Consortium

General meeting of weavers was convened on 11.02.2009 in which 89 weavers , master weavers and stake holders were present. Apart from this, seven official from cooperative and industry departments also attended the meeting.  Consortia was formed by the present weaver members for which ten members were elected and relevant documents under the provisions of H.P. Societies Registration Act 2006 were prepared and submitted to SDM office. During the process of registration a Govt. Circular received from the office of Development Commissioner (Handlooms), directing that if APEX is functioning well, they will be considered the beneficiaries of the cluster under there organization, so separate consortium need not be formed.

Corpus Fund for Yarn Depot

Yarn  of requisite count and colour amounting to Rs. 3,00,000/- have been purchased from NCDC for Yarn Depot. Yarn depot stated in Dec. 2009 at Nagrota Bagwan, Distt. Kangra. Regular supply of requisite counts to all groups/societies of weavers is being made on demand. Yarn Sold Rs. 12881/-  till 31.03.2009.

Skill up-gradation Training

Skill up gradation training (weaving)  was imparted at Banoori Cooperative Weaving Society,  Banoori  Distt. Kangra from 25th Feb-09 to 25 Apr-09. Twenty beneficiaries participated in the training program.

Computer Aided Textile Design System (CATD), colour forecast, trend forecast.

Computer System has been purchased.

Engaging designer

01

Designer Smt. Shweta from New Delhi has been selected by the panel drawn by Development Commissioner (Handlooms). She is being appointed as designer for Kangra cluster w.e.f. 15th June 2009.

CFC/Dye House

-

Project report for Common Facility Centre, and dye house of Rs. 22.00 Lacs has been prepared and sent to the Director, Dept. of Industries H.P. Shimla for recommendation.

Advertisement, brochure, catalogue.

Advertizment on Holi event for Kangra Cluster published in Danik Bhaskar, Hoardings at the prominent places were put to popularize Kangra Cluster Implementations and activities, brochures were distributed among beneficiaries for awareness of the activities of the Kangra Cluster.

Exhibitions/fairs

An exhibition was organized during Holi fair at Palampur from 8th March 2008 to 17th March 2008. Weavers from eight cooperative weavers societies participated and sale was Rs. 32570/-.

Buyer/seller meet

Two buyer-seller meets were conducted up to 31st March 2009 as per action plan.  First on 9th March 2009 during Holly fair  at Palampur and second at Bhagsu Distt. Kangra (H.P.)

Market survey/intelligence

Market Servey  is done through a professional agency i.e HIMCON Shimla

Awareness & exposure visit

01

One awareness and exposure visit was conducted as per inputs from Weavers Service Centre New Delhi.  A group of twenty five weavers visited important institutions, showrooms and handloom industries at New Delhi, Panipat and Ludhiana from 13th to 17th March 2009.

Development & hosting of website.

Kangra Cluster Website has been developed. It will be hosted along with Implementing Agency Website.

Project Management Cost

-

We have appointed one Cluster Development Executive one Cluster Clerk and one Peon under Kangra Handloom Cluster. Salaries of these staff, telephone bill, computer stationary etc have been charged.
